Tally and Eric met via the LDSSingles.com internet dating service on May 24, 2001. After a very challenging week, and with encouragement from her co-workers, Tally decided to go on-line on May 23, at 8PM to create her profile on LDSSingles.com. She characterized herself in merely three succinct sentences which took her an inordinate amount of time to prepare by her report. On May 24, Eric had this nagging feeling that he must log onto his LDSSingles page to checkout the new subscribers. All day he ignored the impressions but finally at exactly 10:20 PM Eric caved-in and decided to "log on just one last time!" He was treated to a wonderful profile and personal experience when he decided to browse Elena1975 (Tally's LDSSingles handle). Eric decided to try his luck and e-mailed Tally. Tally claims he was the first person to whom she replied despite the fact that she had received multiple queries from other interested beaus.
Tally and Eric corresponded with each other
exclusively by e-mail on almost a daily basis. As they nurtured their relationship,
it began to sprout and grow much like a young seedling. They progressed to finally
speaking over the telephone in just five months. They thoroughly enjoyed speaking
to each other on the telephone, many times their conversations lasted 4-5 hours.
It was then that their relationship really began to blossom. Tally was interested
in meeting Eric in NYC, which became a controversial issue for concerned friends
and co-workers, but which received the full support of her parents. Tally made
the big leap and bought tickets for a three day weekend visit to NYC. On their
first "real" date, November 17, 2001, Eric treated Tally to a dinner
at the Marriott Marquis' revolving restaurant, The View, and a Broadway performance
of Aida. The evening was unforgettable and enjoyed immensely by the couple.
After multiple visits to NYC, the two decided that they were meant for each
other and have decided to be married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on the
anniversary of their first on-line "date," May 24, 2002. The rest
my friends, will be history…
Tally & Eric's engagement was announced on February 23, 2002.
Eric proposed to Tally on February 23, 2002, 1:30PM in the Celestial Room of the Bismark North Dakota Temple by asking her if she would "be my Eve in Eden!" :-) Tally was filled with joy beyond description and quickly asked Eric to "get up off of your knees, please!" Tally's parents arranged for an engagement party to follow the proposal, in their home in Fargo, ND, to celebrate the couple's joyous occasion with family and close friends of Tally. The engagement ring, according to Tally is "absolutely beautiful and reminds me of your love for me, Eric, and my love for thee...."
